  • The North Bay Rosarian

is North Bay Rose Society's monthly e-newsletter, a great source for rose ramblings and expanded stories on Bay Area rose culture.

Consider submitting a story, photo, link, or original artwork.

The publication deadline is the last Monday of the month before the meeting.

  • Education

is a cornerstone of our mission. We develop an array of captivating programs presented both at monthly meetings and at supplemental events ranging from horticulture & agriculture science to art practice.

Our programs are for members of every skill level and experience.

Members in good standing for at least 2 consecutive years with North Bay Rose Society and concurrent membership with the American Rose Society along with three letters of recommendation from peer CR’s, can apply to study and sit for the national Consulting Rosarian Exam to earn the credentials of CR.

Members who are interested in horticulture, arranging, and photography, with experience in exhibition and rose culture can apply to study as an apprentice judge. Didactic and practical instruction proceed a rigorous board exam that includes rose identification, standards of excellence, and horticulture & design theory. After successfully completing a minimum of five proctored exhibition shows, the apprentice judge can apply for full accreditation with the American Rose Society.

  • Exhibition

Members that have interest in showing roses can participate in our historic rose shows.

North Bay Rose Society has produced a local rose show annually for 42 years.

Our Northern California-Nevada-Hawai’i district of the American Rose Society (that now proudly includes Southwest Oregon) boasts more than 20 local societies who also produce shows throughout the year that welcome participation by North Bay members.

Local, District, and National honors are awarded at Rose Shows including stunning trophies, certificates, rosettes, and place ribbons.

North Bay Rose Society members can participate in “Little Rose Shows” at monthly meetings during rose blooming months to practice their skills for formal shows. Little rose shows are a fun, zero-pressure opportunity to learn.

  • Life Long Friendships

    Buddies. Confidants. Friends. Family . . .

Our Society is more than a group of people that talk roses.

We are an inclusive, friendly, chosen family of folks from a diversity of backgrounds and experiences.

    We lean on one another.

We celebrate individual’s gifts and work together to accomplish great things.

Come for the roses, stay for the people.

  • Philanthropy

The North Bay Rose Society is a robust member of the North San Francisco Bay Community, and far beyond.

We champion causes by awarding endowments throughout the year.

Our NBRS Martina Felix Gallegos Memorial Scholorship is awarded to students persuing horticultural/floral arts education.

We adopted the Lincoln Elementary School Wellness Center in Vallejo, CA and championed the work of an angel in faded jeans, Miss Carmen who provides service to students far beyond expectation.

Donations to local and global food banks are made throughout the year.

  • A Network of Rosarians

Members of NBRS are automatically members of the Northern California-Nevada-Hawai’i District of the American Rose Society. Our sister societies welcome us with open arms to participate in their programs, shows, and causes.

We have a network of fellow rosarians in our district and throughout the United States. In fact, North Bay Rose Society has members from around the country.
